Legend Park Preschool held a community day on 23 November to thank everyone who offered their time and effort supporting the school in 2019.
A tremendous turnout saw over 200 adults and children attending to enjoy the activities such as a bouncing castle, face painting, sausage sizzle and the general play equipment. Firefighters from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade dropped by from Station 28, giving children a chance to come up close to a fire truck and to interact with fire fighters.
Community leaders Neil Angus, MP, Cr Geoff Lake and Mayor Stuart James visited and mingled with parents.
Over $2,000 was raised through silent auctions and raffles held on the day. This money will be spent towards enhancing the kindergarten facilities.
Founded in 1975, the last six months have been momentous for the school which was slated for closure at the end of the 2019. The community responded to this announcement by rallying together, successfully lobbying Council to postpone the closure. The school has since seen a resurgence in enrolments thanks, in part, to the efforts of a highly motivated group of volunteers comprising past and current parents, and general community members.
